Instagram has been VERY busy lately....

We have all seen and read the latest in what has been a long line of Instagram updates. But it seems they have quite outdone themselves with their most recent one.

Instagram have announced that it is now going to give its users the ability to locate their own analytics. That’s right, you will be able to get data on your posts and followers.

This is especially good news for marketers who all love checking out data on posts and campaigns to see how they’re performing.

The analytics will include:

  • Follower locations
  • Gender
  • Age
  • Impressions
  • Reach
  • Website clicks
  • Post views
  • Unique post views.

Which you will all be able to get our hands on and use to better future marketing campaigns and all importantly help you reach the right audience at key times.

We predicted a little while back that Instagram would be likely to be slowly making the move towards accepting businesses using it as a marketing tool. Well as a result of this new update, you can clearly see how Instagram is now making that switch.  Is it a safe bet to say Instagram will soon build in a scheduling function for posts too?

Only time will tell but in the meantime, here’s a look at what the analytics or insights will look like…instagram_updates.pngImage source: http://blog.later.com/first-look-instagram-new-analytics/

This is a HUGE development and is welcome news for many of us marketers who have been sitting patiently waiting for an announcement such as this. There have been many tools that give great analytics on Instagram such as Iconosquare which recently rolled out the Pro version. But will the Instagram insights delve deeper and could this see the fall of 3rd party analytics?
